Profile

I live on the beach in beautiful Birch Bay, Washington, located on the Salish Sea in the corner of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Looking over the water to the left I see San Juan Islands, and to the right, Georgia Strait of Canada.  The area is part of the Pacific Flyway, and I’m blessed with migrating birds in the winter and whales feeding in the bay in summer.

I’m a self-taught color artist interested in the interaction of color pigment. I was fortunate enough to find the “Michael Wilcox School of Colour,” founded in basic modern light physics theory. I came away with a clear vision of the mechanics of color. What actually happens when I create?  What is the physics behind this interaction?  To answer: The basis of subtraction mixing is involved in all my work.

Since 1977 I have been involved in art workshops, from Rudolf Steiner’s Veil Painting  (as taught by the renowned Helen Chamberlain in Nashville), Lois Schroff (author and instructor in Mexico), David Anderson in New York, on-line alcohol ink classes with Alexis Bonavistacola, to “The Creative Vision Program” with Nicholas Wilton.  However, my underlying, driving foundation has always been the energy that is created when the vibration of colors are combined—the meeting and mixing of colors, where the new and old are both visible.

The anticipation of what each new piece of art will bring keeps my work exciting and rewarding. It brings me great joy and satisfaction to share my work.
